Diabetes Treatment
The major goal of diabetes treatment is to minimize any sugar (glucose) elevation without causing abnormally low levels of blood sugar. A healthy diet and exercise should be placed in high priority in the diabetes treatment program. Also, monitoring of blood sugar 
should be made as a key part of diabetes treatment program. The whole idea behind diabetes treatment is to minimize chronic diabetic complications, as well as to avoid acute problems of hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia.
Type 1 diabetes treatment is done with insulin, exercise, and a diabetic diet. Type 2 diabetes treatment starts with weight reduction, a diabetic diet, and exercise. When these measures fail to control the elevated blood sugars, oral medications are used. If oral medications are still insufficient, treatment of diabetes with insulin is considered. Some people try alternative medicine for diabetes treatment and some people who are not responding to other diabetes treatments or with failing kidneys go for pancreas or islet cell transplantation.
Diabetes Treatment using Insulin: Insulin administration in the form of injection can be done by insulin pump, by jet injector, or any 
of several forms of hypodermic needle. Insulin therapy requires close monitoring and a great deal of patient education, as improper administration is quite dangerous. So the patient should test their blood sugar at least twice a day.
Role of Exercise, diet and physical activity in Diabetes Treatment: Blood sugar lowers with increased physical activity as sugar is transported to cells, where it's used for energy, thereby lowering the levels in the blood. Eating about the same amount of food each day and about the same times and not skipping meals and snacks helps maintain blood sugar levels to a constant level. Aerobic exercises such as brisk walking, jogging or biking, gardening, housework can help lowering blood sugar.
Oral Hypoglycemic drugs for Diabetes Treatment: These are taken for Type 2 diabetes treatment. Sulphonylureas, biguanides, meglitimides, alpha-glucosidase inhibitors and thiazolidinediones are the popular classes of oral hypoglycemic drugs, used in diabetes treatment. There was also a study that concluded that salba seeds significantly reduce high bloood pressure in diabetes patients.
Patient education and compliance with treatment is very important in managing the disease.
